Advice from Anna Kemp
The most important piece of advice that I can give to anyone entering the workforce or making a career change is to find balance: learn to put work to the side and focus on yourself. Don’t be afraid to be yourself or to ask questions, and always ask for feedback.
Advice from Kelsey Turner
Don’t be afraid to switch it up or challenge the status quo. If you’re nervous to make changes or move to a new role, just trust your knowledge and your instincts in making the right decision for yourself. If you have the mindset of willingness to learn and willingness to work hard, you can conquer change. Life is too short to not love the work you do, so don’t be afraid to find it and find people that you love working with.
Advice from Sarah McConnell
Find a mentor or two that you can talk to regularly, and also serve as a mentor to someone else. The midpoint of your career is perfect for mentorship, and is also a great time to become a mentor for someone early in their career. I found that serving as a mentor can teach you just as much as being mentored. Having a mentor challenges your ability to learn new things and gain perspective from someone who may be outside of your day-to-day. And being a mentor requires listening, and re-learning a lot of skills that you may not have practiced in a while, and resetting your mindset as you teach.
