Johnson Lambert Welcomes Three New Faces to the Partnership in 2023

Johnson Lambert LLP is pleased to announce that Amy Strachan, CPA, Melanie Barthel, CPA, and Alex Murray, CPA have been named Partners, effective January 1, 2023. Amy, Melanie, and Alex embody leadership not only within the firm but also in the communities and the industries they serve.

Amy joined the firm in 2007 and is a Saint Michael’s College alum. With extensive statutory, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) GAAP reporting experience, she is engaged in frequent client and client governance communications and presentations. Amy serves as an Engagement Resources Practice Lead, including development, oversight, and recruitment to implement efficiency and process improvement measures. Amy is a member of AICPA, Insurance Accounting & Systems Association, Vermont Society of CPAs, and Vermont Captive Insurance Association.

Bringing a decade of experience, Melanie oversees planning and directing all aspects of audit fieldwork and financial statement preparation for audits. She has extensive knowledge of GAAP and Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP), as well as experience performing audits under GAAS and PCAOB standards. Melanie is an active member of the Illinois CPA Society Women’s Committee. She also participates in the Audit Evidence Task Force for the Center for Audit Quality. Melanie was also recently appointed to the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) Technical Issues Committee.

Alex joined Johnson Lambert in 2010 and specializes in all three of the firm’s niches: insurance, nonprofit, and employee benefit plans. He is responsible for the high-level oversight of planning and directing all aspects of audit fieldwork and financial statement preparation for audits of insurance companies. A James Madison University Alum, Alex is a member of the AICPA, Insurance Accounting & Systems Association, South Carolina Society of CPAs, and Greater Washington Society of CPAs. In 2022, Alex was appointed to the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association’s (SCCIA) 2022 Board of Directors.
